The 12 Animal Signs of Chinese ZodiacThe 12 animal signs of the zodiac are taken very seriously in China – they are thought to be true indications of one’s personal characteristics. For example, those born in the year of the Rat are imaginative, charming, and a little sharp tempered. Many people in china believe this to the point that they will ask what someone’s horoscope sign is rather than his year of birth, thinking that the zodiac sign is the more relevant piece of information. The twelve Chinese zodiac signs are as follows: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. The twelve signs operate on a rotating system; that is, every twelve years, the cycle begins again. This is tied up with the Chinese concept of time, which is significantly different from the concept we have in the west. In china, time is believed to be revolving rather than linear. In the west, we think of time as progressing in a straight line. The Chinese see patterns in time which repeat themselves with regularity. For example, 1969, 1981 and 1993 were all years of the Rooster, and though we all understand that there is a total time progression of twenty-four years, a person who practices Chinese thought would also note that there is something fundamentally the same about all of these years, because they are all Rooster years. Furthermore, anyone born on a Rooster year will share a set of characteristics, such as being stubborn, bold and flamboyant. In Chinese thought, this character assessment is taken seriously. Furthermore, the zodiac adds to our understanding of feng shui by making it possible for us to chart a personal list of elements and energies. This is because the different zodiac signs are associated with different elements. For a more precise assessment, however, ones KUA number is needed. More Resources:- |
