Working with Feng Shui Crystals

Though some feng shui purists feel that they are not an authentic part of the practice, for many of us in the west, feng shui crystals are a powerful and beautiful part of creating an interior. Like feng shui itself, crystals have been very popular in the past couple of decades. Many people, whether they are feng shui practitioners or not, believe that crystals have the power to heal or to emit positive or tranquil energy in a space. With feng shui, however, it is important to do some research to make sure that you are using the crystals in an appropriate way in order to enhance the energy flow in your home.

Feng shui is based on the bagua, or distribution of influences in the various areas of a home or a room, and on the five elements. Different balances are prescribed for different people, but a general principle of balance and harmony always has to prevail. Crystals can be used in feng shui to reflect and enhance this harmony.

For a start, crystals come from the earth, and so they can be used to enhance earth energy, if needed, in any area of the living space. Gemini crystals, in particular, enhance earth energy. Another good way to use a crystal is to place it in the center of the bagua, which is the ‘tai chi’ or place of clearest and most balanced energy. A good crystal to use in the center is a clear quartz crystal, or even a cluster of them. This brings clarity and calmness to the center. Finally, some crystals, such as the amethyst, enhance tranquility and calmness. An amethyst crystal might be a beautiful and helpful addition to your Contemplation corner, for instance. They are also used in the bedroom to enhance peace and relaxation.
